Highlights of our activities the past year have included:

Worked with state and local media to increase balanced coverage of mental health issues.

Sponsored NCAdvocacy, a statewide network of more than 135 individuals from all arenas of mental health.

Have established the Wavlengthz support groups for parents and children, groups we hope can serve as a blueprint for others across the state.

Participated in public affairs radio broadcasts on mental health issues.

Contributed commentaries on mental health and other social issues to the press.

Maintained the NCMentalHope.org website, a source of news on mental health issues affecting North Carolina and the nation, including convenient tools with which to email Congressional Representatives and members of the General Assembly.

Maintained the website's associated news blog, a compilation of mental health stories from media across the nation, updated daily.

Worked to increase communication and networking between both individuals and organizations concerned with mental health issues and worked to promote those individuals and organizations as well.

Supported the efforts of Tracey Turner and The Emotion Project, twice co-sponsoring its presentation with Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and creating TheEmotionProject.org website.

Worked with the Western Carolina affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness to increase its membership and visibility through a Memebership Grant from National NAMI. As part of this grant, created the NAMI Western Carolina website at NAMIWNC.org.

Provided uncounted hours of one-on-one support to individuals in crisis.

Will soon launch NCSupport, a bulletin board system to provide peer-to-peer support for those in need, be they caregiver or client.
